The Real Reason People Hate on LeBron James
Spoiler: It’s not ‘The Decision’
A wise man once said, “Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.” I think it was Shakespeare. Or a character from Game of Thrones. Whatever the case, it’s an adage that has often been applied to LeBron James, who has been the face of the NBA for the past decade and the best player in the game for several years. As such, King James been the target of unending comparisons, critiques, and clowning.
Jokes is jokes. And memes gon’ meme. But some of these detractors take things too far and try to discredit Bron’s magnificent list of accomplishments with a straight face. Make no mistake, LeBron has been an elite professional baller since his rookie year back in 2003. And yet even after winning his fourth NBA championship on Sunday—putting up ridiculous stats in his 17th season, at the age of 35—there are still people who refuse to put some respect on his name. And for what?
In the appropriately titled “Hating LeBron James Is For Losers,” David Dennis, Jr. calls out those who choose to use disrespectful views on the king of L.A. (no Kawhi)—and offers an explanation. “To be frank, there’s just some hater-ass energy deep inside your soul to watch what LeBron does and refuse to appreciate it,” he writes. “That comes from a place of misery. It’s got to.”
