People Criticizing Dave Chappelle Are Way Too Sensitive and If I Hear One More Negative Word About Him, I’m Going to Light Myself on Fire
Who’s the snowflake now?
Ever since Dave Chappelle released his latest comedy special, The Closer, I’ve seen countless think pieces about how his jokes are transphobic, punch down, or just aren’t funny. Some are even calling for the stand-up to be pulled from Netflix entirely — yet another example of cancel culture dictating what folks are allowed to say and think. It’s infuriating that people get so irrationally angry over differences of opinion and can’t handle a single thing that disagrees with their worldview. That’s why, if I see one more takedown of Dave Chappelle, I’m going to douse myself in gasoline and strike a match.
We’ve seen this same discourse play out time and time again — someone says something that other people find offensive, and their life is completely ruined forever as a result. Sure, very few prominent figures, including Dave Chappelle, have actually faced any lasting consequences after people tried to cancel them, and, if anything, the attempts only brought them more attention and money. But that doesn’t make the threat of cancel culture any less real.
