It’s Time for Biden to Put Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin On Blast

On Monday, President Biden helped disrupt a media-crafted narrative over the ongoing chaos that is in-party negotiations over the bipartisan infrastructure bill and accompanying reconciliation bill designed to expand the social safety net. According to most of the mainstream media I’ve consumed lately (do not recommend much less during a plague TBH), there is some kind of “civil war” between moderate and progressive Democrats over the legislation that could doom the Biden agenda. (News executives love a war theme, don’t they?)

However, Biden himself explained while speaking to reporters, it’s not so much a matter of in-house fighting between the donkeys as it is two Senate members holding progress hostage.

“Why are you unable, Mr. President, to close the deal with members of your own party on key parts of your legislative agenda last week?” a reporter asked Biden after he delivered remarks at the White House to highlight the urgency of raising the debt ceiling.

“I was able to close the deal with 99% of my party,” Biden responded while laughing and holding up two fingers. “Two. Two people.”
