So it seems that most Americans would rather gargle gravy or take a can of that cranberry shit to the head than have a conversation about politics.

In a new Quinnipiac University poll released on Monday, 66% of adults said that they are “hoping to avoid” conversations about politics at the dinner table on Thanksgiving. It’s a sentiment that spans political ideology, with 68% of Republicans, 66% of Democrats, and 69% of Independents saying they want to leave politics out of any conversations over dinner. The survey also found that most ultimately felt they didn’t have much to worry about, as 74% of Americans said heated political debates among family or friends were “not so likely” or “not likely at all.”

“A heaping serving of political back-and-forth with your cranberries and stuffing? No way, say Americans, who would far rather feast on the big meal than feud with each other on Turkey Day,”​ ​said Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy.

For the record, it’s dressing not stuffing. But, to his point, while there is a whole subgenre of content dedicated to the topic online, as this survey and past ones like it illustrate…
