Climate Change — Like Everything Else in America — Is Racist

The devastation of Hurricane Ida is yet another reminder that racial minorities will forever endure the most suffering

The day before he was set to survey the damage left in Louisiana following the catastrophic arrival of Hurricane Ida, President Biden, as he often does, tried to remind us that as Americans, we have more in common than not.

“This isn’t about politics,” Biden said from the White House early Thursday afternoon. “Hurricane Ida didn’t care if you were a Democrat or a Republican, rural or urban. This destruction is everywhere, and it is a matter of life and death, and we’re all in this together. This is one of the great challenges of our time, but I am confident that we will meet it.”

Sadly, it’s hard to share the president’s enthusiasm. Because while climate change will undoubtedly impact every living species on Earth, it’s long been apparent that not all of us humans are going to be affected the same way.

And America loves to drive a cruel point home.
