Andrew Cuomo Has Stepped Down — Now Democrats Need to Finish the Job
The disgraced former New York governor at the center of numerous sexual harassment claims must be prevented from running for office again
In a Tuesday afternoon press conference starring a tyrant forced to finally face political defeat, Andrew Cuomo resigned as governor of New York, effective August 24, 2021.
“Given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to governing,” Cuomo said in remarks from New York City. “Therefore, that’s what I’ll do.”
It’s not like he went out willingly, though.
According to new reporting from the New York Times, the fallen governor was convinced until the very end that he could somehow recover and maintain power following the publication of a damaging report released by New York State Attorney General Letitia James that detailed multiple accusations of sexual harassment against women — including a female trooper on his security detail.
